Items Methodology

This section allows the user to define the necessary values for carrying out the asset inventory.

Options Visibility

  • Análisis de Costes: If activated, it allows you to accede to the "Cost Analysis" functionality in the Risk Analysis option.

  • Cost Analysis: If activated, it allows you to accede to the "Multiple Risks" functionality in the Risk Analysis option.

  • Map of Related Risks: If activated, it allows you to accede to the functionality of "Graph of Related Analysis" in the option of Risk Assessment.

  • Indicators in risk analysis:If activated, it allows you to associate Scorecard indicators to the risks of Risk Analysis.

  • Allow editing propagated records: If activated, the records of Services, Processes, Inventory Items that are propagated to lower entities, can be edited. If unchecked, they will not be editable.

General Configuration of Analysis

  • Dependencies: When you select this option it will be enabled a module of dependencies. This module allows you to model your inventory easily.

  • Item Table in Dependencies: If activated, it allows you display the table of items on the right in the option "Inventory/Item Tree".

  • Propagate dependencies between elements: If activated, when elements are propagated to lower entities, the dependencies between them will also be propagated.

  • Accumulated Dependency Level: It allows you to identify in case we want to establish dependencies by dimension or not (it will be displayed globally).

  • Dependencies levels : It allows you to define the dependencies levels among the dimensions and the propagation rate of each one of them.

  • Categories: This option allows you to define categories and subcategories on which you can associate different assets (Inventory and CMDB). You have to click on the button 'New Category' for creating categories, this action generates a new input on the table (first level). In case you want to genereate levels associated with a category, you have to click on the button 'New Subcategory'. When a new entry is generated on the table, the platform associates an icon by default ( you can modify the icon if you select the desired row and click on the button 'Change Icon').

The column 'Type' allows you to associate an asset category for one of the options of GlobalSUITE which are located in the drop down menu (it appears when you click twice on it). In this way, when you create an item in one of these option, it means that the item is registered in the asset inventory as an asset of the associated category.

When you create a company, GlobalSUITE generates a set of categories of assets by default on which some of them are automatically associated with a type. This action is done by default because GlobalSUITE will consider the services, processes, etc. as assets which are registered in those options. Each of the types available in the drop-down correspond to:

  • Services: Option "Catalog of Services". All services registered in this option are recorded in the asset inventory with the category name associated with the type.

    • Processes: Option "Proccesses". All processes registered in this option are recorded in the asset inventory with the category name associated with the type.

    • Information: Option "RTO & RPO Calculation". All the item registered in the tabl 'RPO Calculation' of this option are recorded in the asset inventory with the category name associated with the type.

    • Infrastructures: Option "Infrastructuras". All infrastructures registered in this option are recorded in the asset inventory with the category name associated with the type.

    • Staff: Option "Employees". All employees registered in this option are recorded in the asset inventory with the category name associated with the type.

    • Suppliers: Option "Suppliers". All suppliers registered in this option are recorded in the asset inventory with the category name associated with the type.

  • Risk Category: It allows you to establish risk categories for typifying any type of threat which have been analyzed in the risk analysis. The risk categories established in this option are independent of the risk analysis performed (which allows you to classify threats of different risk analysis of the same category). This option allows to obtain the total list of threats associated with each risk category.

  • Customizable Attributes:It offers the possibility of customizing additional attributes on the assets.

Dimension Configuration

  • Treatment of the Accumulated values: It allows you to establish which value should select for performing the calculation established by the user. You can select among the following options:

    • Own: It defines that the value of the dimension will be part of the calculation.

    • Accumulated: It allows you to establish which the value of the accumulated dimension will be part of the calculation.

    • Highest value: It offers the possibility of using the highest value among the selected dimension or the accumulated dimension in the calculation.

  • Dimensions: It allows the configuration of the dimensions to value in the asset inventory. You can create or remove dimensions, and you can configure the order on which appears in the table with the buttons ‘Move up Dimension’ or ‘Move down Dimension’.

This is the information which the table shows:

  • Nickname: This name is generated automatically by GlobalSUITE.

    • Name: It shows the name of the dimension. If you click twice on the cell, you can change its name.

    • Order: It shows the order on which the dimension will appear in the asset inventory

    • Show Color: It allows you to define if we want to stand out the dimension with a color.

    • Minimum Value: It identifies the minimum number on which the dimension formula is calculated

    • Accumulated: It enables to include and establish the dependencies of the dimension you have selected (Table of Dependencies) and visualize the accumulated values in the section ‘Analysis/Asset Inventory’.

  • Dimension Type: It offers the possibility of establishing the calculation methodology of the dimensions, you can select the calculation among the following ones:

    • Quantitative: It allows you to define that the calculation of the dimension, which you have selected, will be quantitative and selecting a numerical value in the dimension.

    • Qualitative: It allows you to define that the calculation of the dimension, which you have selected, will be qualitative and you can establish an specific range of values (E.g: High, Medium, Low).

  • Value: It allows how we want to carry out the calculation (Manually or automatically) of the dimension you have selected on the previous table.

  • Type of Calculation: In case you have selected the automatic option, GlobalSUITE offers the following options:

  • Cartesian product: It allows you to establish the calculation of the dimension based on a two-dimensional matrix which has been defined in the option ‘Dimensions’. For this task you have to select a dimension in the ‘X axis’ and other dimension in the ‘Y axis’ and give values according to the levels established.

NOTE: The Cartesian product cannot be generated according to the dimension whose calculation is quantitative.

  • Formula: The option allows you to define how it will be obtained the calculation of the dimension based on a mathematical formula. For this task, GlobalSUITE shows the following option:

The user can select among the different dimensions and calculation options for generating the formula on which it will be obtained the result of the dimension selected.

Note: It’s necessary to validate the formula clicking on the button ‘Validate Formula’ before you save.

  • Result: It enables to define the values of the calculation option selected in the previous point (Cartesian product or Formula).

  • Dimension Levels: It allows you to define the valuation levels of the dimension selected. As well as the other options, you could create or remove levels, and you also put them in ascending or descending order with the 'Move up' button and 'Move down'. To conclude, you could parameter the color for the levels you want to stand out. You have to select the level and click on the button ‘Change color’.

NOTE: If the levels are defined for a qualitative dimension, GlobalSUITE allows the following options: to define the calculation range of the selected level and the value on which you will calculate the dimension. If the levels are defined for a quantitative dimension, GlobalSUITE allows you to define the color on which you will stand out the numerical values of the assets inventory.

Configuration of Dimensions Visibilities

  • Group of Dimensions: It allows to create groups of dimensions, which can be associated to the dimensions.

For each one of the configured groups, we will have the option in the Risk Analysis, to display the dimensions of that group solely.

  • Dimensions Visibilities: This table allows you to configure GlobalSUITE so that assessment of some types of assets (services, processes, suppliers, infrastructures and employees) can be done in the option where they are generated, in addition to the 'Asset Inventory' option.

As you can see in the image above, it is possible to configure some options of the tool (services, processes, suppliers, infrastructures and employees) to indicate which inventory dimensions can be assessed in the corresponding GlobalSUITE option. To indicate 'Yes' or 'No', you have to simply click on the corresponding cell. If any option has all dimensions with 'No', the corresponding form will not have the section that allows the assessment.

  • Visibility Dimensions in Tables: This table allows you to configure GlobalSUITE so that the visualization of the dimensions in the determined options tables can be modified.

  • Control Fields Configuration:

  • Associate Standards to Controls: If activated, it allows associating regulations to controls. These standards are configured in Standards Configuration.

    • Compliance Requirements in the Control Sheet: If activated, it allows you to consult in the form of a control, in Controls Management, which Compliance requirements are associated with that control.

    • Risk Management Control Levels / Compliance Plan: It allows you to define the levels of the different states of a Treatment Plan and Compliance Plan.

As shown in the table above, we can define as many levels as we want, defining their name, both in Spanish and English. We will also define the degree of completeness of the plan, when we select that status. It will be measured in %.

  • Control ticket: It allows you to configure the fields that will be displayed in the control ticket.

As shown in the table above, we can modify the names of all fields, both in Spanish and English. We can decide for each field in the following table:

  • Control ticket: This field can only be displayed when accessing a control tab.

    • Tables: This field can only be viewed from the Risk Analysis, Control Management, etc. options.

    • All: You can view both in the Control Ticket option and in the Tables.

    • None: This field will not be displayed anywhere.

We can configure the order of the fields with the help of the buttons Move Up Order and Move down Order. The last column indicates the fields to be displayed in the Treatment Plan.

Translate

In the upper right part of the view, there is a button that allows you to go to a view where we can configure the labels and field names in another of the languages that we have available.

When you select one of the available languages, we will go to the translation view, where you can change the texts and fields in that language. Users of GlobalSUITE® who have that language configured will see those names.

If any configured field does not have a defined translation, it is shaded in gray, with the text in the default language.

If we want to exit the translation view to the configuration view, just press "Back".
